Shelter in place
All occupied buildings in QAFCO are now fitted with Gas Alarm System, which trips the Air conditioning unit's intake and prevents the entry of any drifting gas cloud into the building. Sensors with set trip levels are fitted at such intake; subsequently the emergency centre at QAFCO receives visual alarms at an exclusive panel, from which they can acknowledge. The buildings are also fitted with airlock doors at all entrances and visual alarm. Thus, making all occupied buildings a safe shelter in the event of an emergency. The next step is training of employees and carrying out mock drills to ensure the awareness of all personnel.
Total flooding system modification- Halon Replacement
In-line with the Montreal protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, QAFCO had carried out detailed studies on alternate substances, their suitability and subsequently planned and executed the phasing out HALON (chloroflurocarbons (CFCs) / HCFs ) as fire fighting agent. As an alternative, water mist and NOVEC 1230 agents are used in the total flooding fire fighting system. This has added a feather to cap of QAFCO in terms of care for environment and commitment towards people.
